This chapter introduces the basic features and programming environment of MATLAB. MATLAB is one of the most successful scientific computing software packages currently available. Its powerful computing and plotting functions, programmable features, and open design philosophy are the main reasons for its success. This chapter also introduces the main windows in the MATLAB interface and the primary tools that provide help.
